CALL FOR PAPERS
The conference will address the following key topics:

- Drivers of marginalization and challenges in border and peripheral areas
- Opportunities and challenges in regions with specific geographical features (mountain and coastline areas, sparsely populated and isolated areas, areas in transformation or decline etc.)
- Sustainable mountain development
- Exclusion, marginalization and peripheralization in urban areas
- Social inequalities and marginalization
- Marginalization and exclusion in the time of COVID-19 pandemic
- Globalization and its impact on local and regional development
- Interdisciplinarity in regional development
- Local and regional responses to marginalization and territorial disparities
- Best practices in regional governance
ABSTRACT SUBMISSION
In order to be accepted and included in the Conference Programme, each submission must meet the following conditions:
1. the content of the submitted paper must be in line with the conference theme and key topics;
2. the abstract must be:
– accurate (contains only information included in the paper to be presented)
– logically structured (summarizes the research purpose, materials and methods, results and conclusions)
– concise (no more than 500 words)
– clear (does not contain jargon, colloquialisms or acronyms that are not explained)
– it must not contain figures and references
3. it complies with the principles of research integrity as stated in the European Code of Conduct for Research Integrity;
4. the online registration form is submitted within the registration period;
5. the conference registration fee is paid by 10 July 2021.
PRESENTATION GUIDELINES
At least one of the paper authors should both register and attend the conference to give a presentation of its contents.
Presentations and discussions will take place via Zoom Meeting platform. The virtual meeting will be created by the conference organisers. The links to join sessions and the passwords to access them will be sent by e-mail to the registered participants of the conference.
PAPER SUBMISSION (optional)
After the conference, authors are invited to submit their full papers typewritten entirely in English, until 1 October 2021, at the following e-mail address: cgr.centre@ubbcluj.ro
The conference papers submitted for publication will undergo an anonymous peer review procedure and will be selected to be published in:
1. Perspectives on Geographical Marginality – the book series edited by the International Geographical Union’s (IGU) commission on Globalization, Marginalization, and Regional and Local Responses (C20.32)
2. Romanian Review of Regional Studies – the journal of the Centre for Regional Geography
3. Studia Universitatis Babeş-Bolyai Geographia
